About

My name is Kent Jarrett and I have over 45 years of angling experience.

I specialize in Crappie fishing in and around the DFW metroplex. My home lake is Lake Lavon, just North of Wylie Texas. I learned the love of the outdoors from my dad, and want to help pass it onto you on your trip. I want to teach / coach you to your way to being successful in catching crappies for the rest of your life. I have a twin seat bow allowing you to fish side by side next to me over a Garmin LiveScope system.

FAQ

  • Do We Need a Texas Fishing License?

    YES

In the Great State of Texas, freshwater guides have to be licensed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and are required to meet all legal safety requirements for the boat. Please make sure you have a current fishing license as well and there are no surprises in the event we are visited by a Texas Game Warden.

  • Where Do We Meet?

If fishing Lake Lavon we meet at the Little Ridge Park boat ramp located Power Plant. Little Ridge is located at:

    Little Ridge Park
    13712 CR 489
    Nevada, TX 75173

  • Do You Guarantee I Will Crappies?

    No!

No guide does that I am aware of. There are just too many factors in fishing that influence the outcome of any trip. However, I show up early with a clean boat, filled with gas, gear and tackle ready to work for you and give you the best chance of a successful trip. I am on the water 2-3 days a week and use everything at our disposal to have a pattern and fish located!

  • What Do I Bring?

The only thing you have to bring is your fishing license. However, to make your trip enjoyable here are a few tips:

Dress appropriately for the weather, including rain gear if the forecast calls for it

Do wear sunscreen and I recommend the lightweight, fast drying fishing shirts to help keep you cool. I can provide all the tackle, but feel free to bring yours. If you do bring a cooler, make sure it isn’t bigger then a personal sized unit. NO chest coolers allowed. There will be an onboard cooler with ice and bottled water for your use.

  • How many people can go on a guided crappie fishing trip?

Your ideal trip will have yourself. One on one time with me is going to lead to your best success. LiveScope is a very precise tool and harder for more than me and you to truly be in the bow of the boat. If you bring a second fisherperson, you will be sharing time and the prime area of fishing. If you have a larger group /more than two, I can work with other guides and bring additional boats so that everybody enjoys a comfortable trip

  • Do you allow customers to keep their catch?

    Yes.

If you want to keep your legal catch you are more than welcome to. Your catch will be cleaned and bagged for you to take home. Please bring a cooler to ensure your catch arrives home fresh.

  • Do you accept credit cards?

I accept all forms of payment, just tell me what is most convenient for you and we can work it out. If you do plan to pay by credit card, you will be responsible for the small fee they charge me.

  • Can Kids Fish?

Of course, as a father and grandfather, I strongly believe in getting kids in the outdoors. If you want a kid-focused trip we can do that to, again communication is the key.

  • Can we custom tailor a trip?

I am here to serve, and can accommodate anything from large corporate trips with multiple boats to individualized instructional trips. You let me know, and we make it happen.
